Time-based project

This work came to life as my project at The Wild Artist in Residence, Ontario, Canada and consists of installing blank painting supports (usually canvas or paper) directly into the wild and leaving them for an undetermined amount of time exposed to the elements. While I usually make a process of selection and choice of natural elements, in this work I am doing the opposite by letting nature decide and choose what to impress on my canvas. At the moment, the project is ongoing in two different locations: Lazio, central Italy and Ontario, Canada.

Time and Place
2019 – ongoing

Started during my residency at The Wild, in Ontario, Canada, this project consists of placing blank canvases directly within a site, where they remain exposed for an open-ended duration. Subjected to weather, animal activity, and elemental forces, each surface becomes the material outcome of duration unfolding within a specific location, emerging from the conditions of time and place. The project is currently ongoing in Ontario (Canada) and Lazio (Italy).
