Branch
2018
Assemblage (wood, organic pigment on canvas), 48 x 19 cm – 18.8 x 7.4 inches
Additional information:
I collected the found objects that compose this body of work during my daily hikes in the forest. Then I chose and isolated some of the pieces I find more interesting. I usually show one natural element alone and unaltered, and in a second stage I add my intervention, which consists of extracting and using the pigment of the natural element to create my marks. This artwork is composed of two canvas boards (9.4 x 7.4 inches, each). In the first one, a branch from an unknown tree is mounted on canvas. In the second canvas, the pigment from the branch, extracted by hand in my studio, is used to form a square shape. Branch found at: Tuscolo area, central Italy, January 2018.
